[Virgil Mirano photographs of Los Angeles Victorian architecture]
Victorian Architecture of Los Angeles

Creator/Contributor:

Mirano, Virgil, creator, photographer.

Creator/Contributor:

Environmental Communications (Firm : Venice, Calif.), publisher.

Abstract:

Documentation of Victorian architecture in Los Angeles, chiefly in the Bunker Hill area of downtown. Photographs depict exterior and interior views of residential houses and other structures, many of which were later demolished. Some views show structures being relocated, or in their new locations after having been cleared from Bunker Hill for the purpose of redevelopment. The effort to save structures that were to be torn down is evident in some views (e.g. "Save me" signs). Also includes a photocopy of Victorian Architecture of Los Angeles, a pamphlet written by Mirano and published by Environmental Communications in 1974 to promote preservation and restoration of historic structures; photocopies of a map of historic buildings and sites in the Bunker Hill area; and photocopies of a street map of the Bunker Hill area circa 1960.
